Manual uploading is the simplest way of uploading your products. Although, unlike CSV, this will take longer as you can’t upload in bulk and must work on a product one at a time.
Uploading products manually on Partner Central has its benefits, whether you are not confident or familiarised with CSV uploading and Excel, or you want to really see exactly what you are adding in, manual uploading is a good way for this.
Everything when uploading manually is labelled and gives clear instructions on what is required for you to upload your products successfully.
What to look out for:
There are a few things to look out for when uploading products manually, these are, creating product variants, colour attributes, optional/mandatory attributes and updating pricing. All are explained below.
Creating variants manually:
Creating a variant manually is very different in comparison to CSV uploading. For this, you would need to click the button ‘+ Create a product with variations’.
After that, you would need to create one of the products that will be featuring in the variant and click ‘Save and exit’ when finished. Please do not make this a master variant, instead, if you have 3 variants of colours, make your first variant as one of those colours.
Finally, you would go to Products, Edit the product and on the Variant section, you would need to press ‘Add a variation’. You can make as many variants as needed then for the product. Once completed all other steps, you can then Publish and exit.
Colour attributes:
Colour attributes are now mandatory for all products, if these are not complete, then Partner Central will not allow you to publish the product(s).
Unlike CSV, you do not need to use a HEX Value (unless you would like).
- Picker: Choose the exact colour of your product.
- Display Name: The colour that will be displayed to the customer.
- Filter As: How the customer will be able to filter down colours when searching for a product.
It is worth noting with picker that if you have many variants, like sofas with similar colours but small differences to make, the picker/hex value will need to be unique, or customers won’t be able to select the correct one.
Optional & Mandatory attributes:
When filling in the attributes of your product, you will notice it will say either optional or mandatory next to them. If it says optional, then you do not need to fill this in if you wish not to or do not feel it is necessary for your products. If it says mandatory, then this needs to be filled in or you won’t be able to progress.
Updating Imagery:
To remove imagery from a variant(s) manually, you would need to go to Media, Load all media and then deselect any imagery you wish not to show anymore and then click Looks Good when ready.
To add new imagery, you would just need to go Load all media, & either Drag and drop the image, or browse your files to add, finishing off by clicking Looks Good.
Once finished updating the imagery of your variant(s), click Save and Publish where it will go back to pending approval.
Updating Pricing:
When updating pricing you will need to have your Effective From date set for the next day for this to work.
